The Jadar Project

In 2004, Rio Tinto geologists discovered Jadarite, a new mineral containing lithium and boron. Jadarite, named after the Jadar River, is located near the city of Loznica in Western Serbia. The Jadar deposit is a world-class resource that could potentially provide the foundation of a new electric vehicle supply chain in Serbia.

Sports club donations

Sports are important to the local community in Loznica, which has numerous sports clubs and frequently hosts competitions.

One of the most popular sports in the region is football. The first football club was founded more than a century ago, and today there are more than 20 in Loznica and the surrounding area. Through our donation programme, we have supported many clubs with improving training conditions and competitions. We have donated sports equipment, seating for stands, lawnmowers and have renovated changing rooms. These donations have contributed to increasing safety, accessiblity and energy efficiency.

Boxing is also very popular in Loznica, which is often called the "city of boxing". With a tradition longer than half a century, Boxing Club Loznica boasts many medals and champion titles. We donated a mini-bus to the club, and are proud to have the opportunity to be part of its success story.

We have also supported other sports in the region through donating sporting and safety equipment. This includes the Šampioni Karate Club from Banja Koviljača, the Women's Handball Club from Loznica and the Enduro Motorcycle Club.
